Artist Kristin Gibson

Kristin Gibson graduated from ECU School of Art in 1990 with a BFA in Painting and Textiles. Kristin’s career began in textiles, designing fabric collections, which continues to inform her strong sense of color and composition. After a lifetime living and painting by the sea, a recent move and life change finds her contemplating new canvases, with walks in Duke Gardens, Umstead State Park, and also the Durham Farmer’s Market.  An alla prima painter, Kristin’s confident brushwork and unique perspectives in her still life subjects capture the eye of collectors. These words from an admirer are more than she could hope for someone to find in her paintings: “Kristin's work has organic unity and a cohesive palette that yields many delights in a narrow range of colors. Her painting also does not give up all its secrets in the first look, it makes you wonder, also makes you think, ‘wonder why I never saw such beauty in a simple arrangement of objects before?'"

Kristin has a powerful sense of spontaneity and vibrancy in her paintings that collectors admire.

An alla prima painter, Kristin’s strong brushwork and unique perspectives speak volumes to her skill and confidence. Her palette tends toward bold colors, while still life and interior images have depth and form without the use of shadow.
